What is GPR

Concrete Scanning and Concrete Coring

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is radar technology that when applied to concrete inspection can be used to effectively locate rebar, post-tension cables, conduits and other embedded targets in concrete. A scanner is run through the concrete surface being inspected projecting the embedded targets to a computer screen for interpretation.

Complex structural slabs can be imaged using GPR in order to avoid damaging any critical targets during concrete cutting, seismic retrofits, tenant improvements or any process that may require altering a concrete structure.

Targets are clearly marked during inspection prior to coring. GPR is very accurate when the technology is applied properly by an experienced GPR technician.

GPR is real time technology, which allows for immediate relocation of obstructed coring locations. Unlike X-ray technology, GPR is safe and requires no evacuation of surrounding areas during inspection.
